Thanksgiving office and facility closings

City of Hickory offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Offices will reopen on Monday, Dec. 1, at 8:30 a.m. 

Other City department closings and/or schedule updates:

Public Services
The Solid Waste Division and its services (garbage, recycling, yard waste, and leaf collection) will continue without interruption.

Library
The Patrick Beaver Memorial and Ridgeview Branch libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and remain closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28. Both Hickory Public Library branches will be open regular hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29.

Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism
The Administrative Offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28. 

Highland Recreation Center will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and remain closed Thursday, Nov. 27. Highland will be open Friday, Nov. 28, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Ridgeview Recreation Center and Brown Penn Recreation Center will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and remain closed Thursday, Nov. 27. Brown Penn will also be closed on Friday, Nov. 28. Ridgeview will be open on Friday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Winkler Ceramics Studio will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 26, through Sunday, Nov. 30, and will reopen Monday, Dec. 1.

Westmont Senior Center will be closed Thursday, Nov. 27.

Regular hours for recreation facilities will resume on Saturday, Nov. 29. 

Starting Sunday, Nov. 30, Highland Recreation Center will be open on Sundays from 1-6 p.m. for the winter season. Parks are open 365 days a year.

Police 
The main lobby and Records Division at Hickory Police Department will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday, Nov. 28. Crash reports can be retrieved online through the department’s Crash Report Database

Airport
Hickory Regional Airport will be closed except for emergency call out FBO services on Thursday, Nov. 27, for Thanksgiving. The air traffic control tower, runway, and self-serve fueling will remain open.
