Schedule and service updates for Wednesday

In light of recent winter weather and ongoing hazardous road conditions, several City of Hickory facilities and services will experience changes on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Below are the latest updates:

Solid Waste Services
The City of Hickory Solid Waste Division will begin collecting residential garbage on limited routes starting Wednesday, Jan. 28. Residents on Monday and Tuesday routes should place their rollout carts at the curb on Wednesday for service. All other residents should set out their carts on their regular collection day and leave them at the curb until service is completed.

Recycling and commercial collections will occur as weather, road, and parking lot conditions allow. Yard waste collection is suspended for the remainder of the week and will resume on Monday, Feb. 2. 

As conditions change throughout the day, additional schedule updates may be announced. For questions about solid waste collection, call 828-323-7500.

Facility Hours & Updates
Hickory Public Library branches (Patrick Beaver Memorial and Ridgeview) will return to normal operating hours, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Highland Recreation Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28. Ridgeview Recreation Center will be open from 12-6 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28. All other facilities will be closed on Wednesday. Volleyball assessments have been rescheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 28, and Thursday, Jan. 29.
