Rev. Dr. Anthony Freeman - Councilman - Ward 4

Dr Anthony Jerome Freeman is a native of Middletown, Connecticut, where he received his calling to the ministry at the age of 16. On Oct. 6, 1999, he received his first ordination in the A.M.E. Zion Church by Bishop George W.C. Walker, Sr. in Albany, New York. On Nov. 2, 2002, Pastor Freeman received his second ordination as an Elder in the A.M.E. Zion Church by the late Bishop Cecil Bishop in the Western North Carolina Conference. On Oct. 30, 1999, Dr. Freeman received his first Pastoral Charge at Ardis Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Salisbury, N.C., where he served as pastor for two years. He went on to serve as pastor at St. John A.M.E. Zion Church, Mocksville, N.C.; Smyre’s Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Catawba, N.C.; Coulter’s Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Newton, N.C.; and Sandy Ridge A.M.E. Zion Church, Landis, N.C. Freeman is now the appointed pastor of Clinton Tabernacle A.M.E. Zion Church in Hickory, N.C. Freeman has been married to his wife Denise since April 24, 2010, and they have five children.
