Holidaypalooza in Hickory

The holiday season continues in downtown Hickory with Holidaypalooza, a festive family event presented by the City of Hickory, Hickory Downtown Development Association (HDDA), and the Hickory Farmers Market on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Union Square.

Holidaypalooza follows the City of Hickory's annual Lowes Foods Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting and offers families another opportunity to celebrate the season with holiday characters, children's activities, shopping, and seasonal fun in the heart of downtown.

From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., children and families can visit with Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and the Thanksgiving Turkey in Union Square. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras and capture special holiday memories.

Children will also have the opportunity to write letters to Santa at the HDDA booth and enjoy a variety of holiday-themed activities hosted by staff from Hickory Public Library.

At 1 p.m., Santa will gather with families for a special holiday story time presented in partnership with Hickory Public Library, sharing seasonal favorites and spreading holiday cheer before returning to the North Pole.

In conjunction with Holidaypalooza, the Hickory Farmers Market Holiday Market will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering locally made gifts, seasonal treats, handmade goods, and fresh products from regional vendors.

Visitors are encouraged to explore downtown throughout the day, enjoy local shopping and dining, and find unique gifts from downtown businesses and farmers market vendors as they begin their holiday shopping.
