Holiday office and facility closings

In observance of the Christmas holiday, City of Hickory offices will be closed Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 25-27. Offices will reopen Thursday, Dec. 28, at 8:30 a.m.

City offices will also be closed for New Year’s Day on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, and will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024, at 8:30 a.m.

Other city department closings and/or schedule updates:

Public Services
The Solid Waste Division and its services will be suspended on Monday, Dec. 25, for Christmas Day. Due to this closing, all services (garbage, recycling, yard waste, and leaf collection) will be shifted one day to run Tuesday through Saturday.  

Hickory Public Library 
Hickory Public Library, the Patrick Beaver Memorial main facility and the Ridgeview Branch, will be closed Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 25-27, as well as Monday, Jan. 1, 2024. Hickory Public Library branches are closed on Sundays. 

Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Department 
The Parks, Recreation & Sports Tourism Administrative Offices will be closed Monday through Wednesday, Dec. 25-27, as well as Monday, Jan. 1, 2024.

All Hickory recreation centers will be closed Sunday, Dec. 24, and Monday, Dec. 25, for the Christmas holiday, as well as Sunday, Dec. 31, and Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, for the New Year’s holiday.

Highland Recreation Center will be open Tuesday, Dec. 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. 

Ridgeview Recreation Center, Brown Penn Recreation Center, and Westmont Senior Center will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 26.

The Ceramics Studio at Winkler Park will be open Wednesday, Dec. 27, from 12-5 p.m.; Thursday, Dec. 28, from 3-8 p.m.; Tuesday, Jan. 2, from 3-8 p.m., and Wednesday, Jan. 3, from 12-5 p.m.

Westmont Senior Center will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 26, and open Thursday, Dec. 28, from 2-5 p.m.

Parks are open 365 days a year.
