Councilwoman Arnita Dula – Ward 5

Arnita M. Dula grew up in Caldwell County, specifically the Dulatown community. She retired in 2024 as the Deputy City Attorney for the City of Hickory, where she served in that position for 17 years. She currently is of counsel with Teague, Campbell, Gorham, and Dennis. She received the North Carolina Bar Association’s Citizen Lawyer Award and the City of Hickory’s Women’s History Month Phenomenal Woman Award in 2016. She attends Greater Faith Missionary Baptist Church, where she serves as an ordained minister, participates in the women’s ministry, and is a member of the Christian Education team. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, movies, theater, and UNC Tarheel basketball.
