Community Appearance Commission honors Beautification Award recipients for 2025

The City of Hickory’s Community Appearance Commission celebrated nine outstanding recipients of the 2025 Beautification Awards during a special reception held Tuesday, Jan. 13, at the historic Shuford House & Gardens.

Each year, the Commission invites community nominations and recognizes individuals, businesses, and organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to enhancing Hickory’s visual appeal. Award winners are honored for their efforts in creating and maintaining beautiful properties through landscaping, architectural renovations, and building restorations within city limits. The program also highlights noteworthy beautification projects and local initiatives focused on litter cleanup and environmental stewardship.

The mission of the Community Appearance Commission is to enhance the appearance of the City of Hickory by advising on and implementing programs of general community beautification. Members help coordinate the activities of individuals, agencies, and organizations (public and private) whose plans, activities, and programs bear upon the appearance of the City.
